Public-domain English translations of the Qur'an, the sayings of the Prophet, and the Sufi and philosophical tradition. Note that these are all pre-1930 translations: they are legally free and historically important, but no Muslim scholar would call any of them the best English Qur'an available today.
The Qur'an in English
Four public-domain translations. Rodwell reorders the suras chronologically; Sale is the first serious English version, from 1734; the side-by-side edition is the most useful single file if you want to compare readings.
